eCounselling Services
What is eCounselling?
eCounselling is the delivery of counselling or psychotherapy services through your computer, smart device, or telephone.
Is it confidential? Is it secure?
Yes! eCounselling must follow the same requirements for confidentiality as face to face counselling and more. The video platform that Personal Growth & Wellness uses for video counselling is encrypted and compliant with Ontario’s laws for the privacy and protection of personal health information. Some people say that they feel more privacy through eCounselling because they can participate in counselling from their own private space and they do not need to visit our centre.
Is it effective?
Yes. In fact, there are studies that have found that eCounselling is just as effective as face to face. Many people find telephone or video counselling a very comfortable alternative to in-office sessions.
What are the benefits of eCounselling?
eCounselling is:
- Accessible for those who are unable to travel to or visit the counsellor’s office. This may include people who live in a different community from their counsellor, those who have health issues making it difficult to leave home, or those who do not have access to transportation. eCounselling services remain accessible during our current COVID-19 pandemic as we all observe self isolation and social distancing. At this time, our eCounselling services are available to residents of Ontario.
- Convenient for those people who may have scheduling challenges related to child-care, work or personal commitments. eCounselling makes it possible to take part in counselling services anywhere you are comfortable.
What do I need to take part in eCounselling?
- a comfortable and private area, free from distractions
- a telephone, or
- a device with a camera and microphone, and reliable internet
Is there a fee for eCounselling services?
eCounselling is subject to a fee for service based on a 50min hour. Your eCounselling may be covered by your workplace EAP or Insurance program. Call for further information.
